"Removal of one-way sync for contacts, calendar, tasks, notes sync"
Why? For me this feature was very important.

Jochen,
the feature is somehow misleading for an avarage user: we received complaints as you can easily end up in a slow sync that does not what a user is expected to get from a one way, that's why we removed it.
cheers

This is version 9, unfortunately unusable for me or is there possibly a way to change this setting on the regsitry?

You can recompile it enabling it... you can get the source code from our svn repository

You have announced Android calendar sync. What preliminary date of release?
Kind Regards,

It is not possible to continue using one-way sync in Funambol9?

Ugnius,
the Calendar sync is already available... if you have android 2.2+ you should be able to upgrade your app from the market and have the new feature enabled
Anonymous,
sorry, but as of today the only way to have one way sync is to recompile the client enabling it or keep on using the older client.

It means that no calendar sync for android 2.1?
Comment Posted at February 6, 2011 10:20 AM
Thank You for an answer. Calendar sync option on Android 2.2 - exist. But we still can't use it because where are no option to change source database to sync with.
Can we change default database registry? Path? Or other options to get the result?
Kind Regards,

It is really important to be able to perform a one-way sync in order to correct errors that occur from time-to-time with various parts of the sync system, not necessarily Funambol issues either. Please re-enable this feature but mark it for advanced users or something to help newbies.

...I meant by 'something to help newbies' that some other way of shielding newbies from lengthy syncs might be thought up. How about an advanced checkbox in the 'Sync Direction' group box thats checked by default and causes just 'Two Way' to be displayed. When Advanced is checked the current combo box is displayed?
Or go one level further. Put the advanced checkbox on the main sync page so its not obvious they are connected and hence less likely to be used.
Or even make it a manual registry entry!
Its necessary, its only a question of which way to do it.
ps and maybe one of the main reasons you disabled this was because you wanted to reduce load on your servers? Clearly important to reduce load, but not at the expense of vital functionality.

..not having a good day! Of course the Advanced check box should be UNCHECKED by default!

Rob,
for someone who can understand the technical details of slow sync vs fast sync the feature is clear, but for the average user it is not. We have had complaints and we found no solution that was acceptable from our point of view. It is a misleading feature for the majority of the users.
My suggestion is to get the source code and implement the solution you're suggesting and provide the patch to our team... maybe that our product owners would agree on adding it in the product once they see it and they find it easy to understand. If you are interested you should ask on our discuss list at http://bit.ly/fun-open-discuss where you need to change the code, so that you can work with our team to design a clean solution that can be enabled/disabled easily.
And we have not removed it to reduce the load: two way sync is heavier than one way sync ;)

Hi Francesco,
I wish I had the time to learn the source code and make the change, but I don't. Maybe somebody else can put their hand up?
But I'm confused that you think the product owners might agree on one of my solutions when no solutions have been acceptable before. It can't be the coding time, because for somebody who knows the code and SVN it would be trivial. And I can't believe that my solutions are new ones either. So what gives?
regards
Rob

Hi Rob,
As I said, it's unlikely that this feature will be back in the near future, but we listen to suggestions and feebacks, and having the solution that just need to be enabled already in the trunk may increase the chance that it could be back someday if we receive lots of request.

Hello,
I would like to ask about date of release of version - 9.1.0 or 9.2.0. Because version 9.1.0 already have needed calendar sync functions, but this version also have some bugs.
Kind Regards,
Ugnius Bareikis

The calendar sync between droid-funambol-evolution destroys the meeting organizer and meeting attendees. Need a one way sync from evo->fun->droid or need to not destroy organizer/attendee info.
This is a MAJOR problem.

Ugnius,
we don't have yet a date for the next release, but the plan is to close it in the first half of 2011
Marty,
please post this issue at bit.ly/fun-open-discuss, this is not the best place for such question ;)
Thanks!

HOW CAN I UPDATE MY iPHONE 3GS FROM MY PC-AOL contacts directory? This ability no longer seems to work, only the reverse direction (phone to AOL/PC) and the settings options for contacts are gone (but seem to be there for photos, which I don't even know what benefit there is in that)
PLEASE HELP. (I am selecting anonymous below because none of the other options seem to work here at this time)

So, based on the changes you made...your product is no longer usable for me either. This dissapointing. I cant use this without one way sync. :-(
